Ingrid Arving The Heart of The Haven
A Dedication to
Ingrid Arving
Ingrid Arving is the heart and founder of Ingrid’s Haven — a sanctuary built on nearly 40 years of unwavering dedication to animal rescue.
Long before no-kill shelters were common in Victoria, Ingrid was already stepping in to save cats who had nowhere else to go. For decades she has worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals whose lives were at risk — and she has done so with fierce determination, compassion, and honesty.
The current home of Ingrid’s Haven at Sunday Creek has been operating for 12 years, embodying Ingrid’s belief that every animal deserves safety, care, and a chance at a future. Under her leadership, the Haven has grown into more than a shelter — it is a community where animals are valued and volunteers are cherished.
Ingrid’s spirit is strong, straight-talking, and deeply committed. She leads with clarity, purpose, and an immense love for all creatures. She also cares deeply about the people who stand beside her. Many volunteers have walked through the doors and stayed for years — not just as helpers, but as family.

Her work has been featured through interviews and stories that reflect both the joy and the challenge of rescue life:
