BECOME A VOLLIE!

Our small but dedicated team of volunteers — affectionately known as our vollies — play a vital role in caring for the cats at Ingrid’s Haven.

Every bit of help makes a difference. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or help in other ways, your time and support help us provide the highest standard of care for our cats. If you love cats, want to make a meaningful impact, and have something to contribute, we’d love to hear from you.

Can’t be hands-on at the Haven? You can still help by supporting fundraisers, helping source donations, spreading the word, or assisting with behind-the-scenes support that keeps the Haven running.

Please read before enquiring to volunteer

Volunteering at Ingrid’s Haven isn’t for the faint-hearted. It is hard work, physically and emotionally, and it requires reliability, resilience and commitment. You will clean, scrub, lift, and work around strong smells — and you will absolutely fall in love with hundreds (possibly thousands) of cats over time, which can be both incredibly rewarding and heartbreaking.

We are looking for volunteers who are genuinely committed, not just curious. If you’re not ready to follow through, attend an induction, or respond to emails, this role may not be the right fit.

What we expect:

• Volunteers must be 18+ (under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian)

• A willingness to commit to regular shifts (weekly, fortnightly or monthly)

• Reliability — if you book a shift, we expect you to attend or organise a swap

• Ability to attend an induction (usually Saturdays)

• Comfortable wearing old clothes and closed shoes (bleach is used for cleaning)

• Proof of tetanus vaccination

• Ability to work as part of a team and follow shelter procedures

What you get in return:

• Hands-on experience with cats of all ages and personalities

• Training and support from experienced volunteers

• Being part of a dedicated, passionate team

• The satisfaction of knowing your time directly improves cats’ lives

• A sense of purpose and connection that’s hard to find elsewhere

If, after reading this, you’re still keen and ready to commit, we’d love to hear from you.

Please complete the application and email it through, along with your availability for an induction.

I acknowledge that working or volunteering with animals may carry a risk of injury, including bites or scratches that could expose me to infections such as tetanus. I confirm that I have been advised to maintain an up-to-date tetanus vaccination.

If I choose to participate without a current tetanus vaccination, I do so at my own risk.

I agree that Ingrid’s Haven, its volunteers, and representatives are not liable for any injury, illness, or infection (including tetanus) that may occur.
